(PRAYERS FOR MINDANAO)
Greetings!
Youth for Peace (Prayers for Mindanao) is a very successful and very heartwarming event for all the youths. We gathered more or less 30-40 youths including Mugna sa Kabataan, and NSTP students from Lyceum of Cebu. The whole event started with an inspiring invocation from Evelyn one of the students from Lyceum of Cebu and Welcome address from the Guidance Councilor of Lyceum of Cebu PJ Calliao. That day Sept. 20, 2008 is very memorable because we learned a lot of things G.R.O.W.T.H members and officers presented a Yoga Dance, and a song Presentation and Ahkmad from Mugna sa Kabataan spoke about What is Ramadhan? Why do they have Ramadhan? What is the goal of Ramadhan? And many more...
It was very inspiring to hear about the Muslim community. After which, the adviser of G.R.O.W.T.H Mr. Rene Araneta gave us a short message and shared about WHAT IS REAL PEACE? As a youth we were so enlightened by his words of wisdom. The Youths gathered together as they lighted their candles and silently prayed for Mindanao. Youths from different religions and faiths (Born again, Catholic, Muslim, Chaitanya Mission) shared their Prayers. As the program ends we had a WONDERFUL and JOYFUL Chanting for PEACE and sang the Prayer Peace Song. With this great experience we learned that we can make this world a better place and that PEACE is POSSIBLE…
PRAYER FOR PEACE SONG
One should chant the Holy Names of the Lord
In a humble state of mind
Feeling one self to be lower
Than the straw in the street
One should be more tolerant than a tree
Devoid of all sense of false prestige
And ready to offer all respects to others.
In such a state of mind one can chant
The Holy Names of the Lord constantly.
